Pink Artist offering

I finished my first square for the Pink Artist project... well, I think I'm finished. I'm undecided on finishing the back, right now all the stitching shows. For those of you that have already completed your square... did you finish the backs?

The metal part of this is a pin from Avon, I removed the pin back then used just a touch of E-6000 to glue 2 parts of the back to the base and then tacked it down in three places with little bead loops. The base is very similar to heavy duty pellon. I buy it in various colors from Nicole Campanella and I love it for small projects.

The sequins are vintage and the light pink beads are charlottes.

I hope to make a few more squares in the next week or so. Also in the next few days to a week, I will be posting my offering for the One World One Heart drawing. So stay tuned for that if you're interested. It will have a Valentine theme.

Grace, I buttonhole stitched my 2x2 fabric pieces to 2x2 felt pieces. The felt does not need any fabric to back it and is thick enough to mimic batting. That said, I inadvertently decorated my thicker square of Peltex (which was my sample square) and it came out pretty well, too.

What is the size of those pieces Nicole is selling?

That's a beautiful square Grace. I like the sequins.
As far as the backing goes..I will put a backing on all my squares. To me the back is just as improtant as the front.....that's just the way I was taught.
Hugs,
Noel

This is a gorgeous beaded block for the Pink Artist doll, Grace!I believe the backs don't need to be finished because Monica is going to sew them to a fabric backing; you might check w/her (I will also!)
Love the pin and old sequins...go, girl !

Hi All... thanks so much for the comments. I'm not a huge fan of pink (but I don't hate it), so I'm a little outside my general color comfort zone. The good thing.. with pink usually comes green (my favorite!).

Phyl, I did talk to Monica - she confirmed the backs won't show, so it's as finished as it's going to get until she turns it into something wonderful!

KV, the package Nicole sells on Etsy has various sizes, but probably not larger than say 4x7. She does sell 12x18 sheets though in a wide range of colors from her website for $3 a sheet. Here's the link http://www.nicolecampanella.com/mywedstie/Bead_Backing.html
If you can't get that to work send me an email and I'll send it that way.

Have fun and thanks again for the nice comments!

p.s. The squares don't have to be PINk, they do have to be 100% representative of YOu so please know if ya wanna use GREEN....go fer it! :) Pink is of course the representational colour for breast cancer, but this doll, our doll is representational of EACH of the pink artists. 100% us, so use what color you choose.... have fun! :)

I really like your square and glad you chose pink. It is so pretty. It really goes well with the green and the gold in the lettering. LOVE it.

Really nice square. Bet it took longer than 30 minutes too. You put a lot into this square and I'll be checking back for your OWOH posting.
