Here is my Bead Journal page for December, all about snow and ice - big surprise!
December was filled with ice, snow and more ice. After our 'big' ice storm, we did lose power for the better part of a day. I consider us lucky because there were so many homes that were without power for several days.
We did have a warm up for a few days where the snow/ice did melt, but most days when I looked outside I saw snow, or ice.
I beaded up these cute little snowflakes found in the book "Bead Creative Art Quilts" by Nancy Eha. They are SO much fun to make!
The snowflakes were created with smaller beads 13/0 - 15/0 and some charlottes for a little extra added sparkle.
After the snowflakes were all complete, I tacked them down with a small stitch at each point and then made an attempt to bead what might look like a window pane, I'm not thrilled with the results, but will chalk that up to a learning experience and go from there.
I've also included a shot of the back of the piece.

Leaves of Grass
This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body - Walt Whitman
