BFAC doll up for auction today

If you have followed my blog for a while you may remember a post from last June where I blogged about my creation for Beading For A Cure, if you are not familiar with this organization - please click on their name and you will be taken to the BFAC website. They host an annual event where all participants are sent an identical 'kit' of beads (which is predetermined but not revealed prior to shipping it to the participants) to create an item for auction on eBay to raise money for colorectal cancer research.

Last year was my first year to participate as a beader, however I have been lucky enough to win auctions for the last several years. The auctions are started in March (National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month) and run until all items are auctioned off - this year the last round of auctions will end May 4. So get your bids in now while you still can!

Today - the doll I beaded last year is up for auction with six other gorgeous items. I don't sell my bead work and I have no idea what to expect, but I hope she brings a nice sum for the cause.

If you have not yet checked out the auctions - please do, it's a wonderful way to give money to a worthy cause and at the same time - own a beautiful hand crafted piece of bead work

Oh Grace, I've said it before I'll say it again - she is absolutely beautiful. I wanted to e-mail you about this Call for Entries I heard about which is taking place at the Bead Museum in Washington, DC - I immediately thought of you. Check this out when you get the chance http://www.bsgw.org/CelebratingBeads.html

The price for your doll just keeps going up and up. That's great, but not surprising. All your beading is exquisite.

This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body - Walt Whitman
