Inspiration & Healing Deck - Card #2

I joined a small group of artists in a collaboration to create a deck of cards for inspiration & healing. The participants are to create two original (small) artworks on the topic of personal healing & inspiration. Each piece will be scanned and the image included in a deck of cards that will be published as a limited run edition. You can read more about it on Mother Henna's blog, there are links to the images of the other participants pieces to be used in the deck as they are completed.

The card is approx 4 x 2.75 inches. The focal piece is a vintage glass cabochon found on EBay. I added just a little bit of glue to hold the cab in place and peyote stitched in place with size 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads. I surrounded the cab with amber colored faceted rondelle beads, then a row of sparkling Swarovski bicone beads. The outside row is the most wonderful, tiny vintage heart shaped glass sew-ons.

For my second card, I wanted to focus more on healing since my first card was about inspiration. So this one is about finding PEACE. Whether it is in the heart, the mind, the past, the present, our conscience, or the world in general.

I personally struggle with it at times, but try, each day, to know and to feel peace.

I'll end this post with one of my favorite quotes...

You never fail until you stop trying.

Great card. Those little hearts are pretty aren't they? Worth the waiting to see it. I can't wait to see all of them in my two little hands.

Stunning - Grace, as is everything you do. I love the message, and the beading is so sophisticated - yet simple. Finding peace within your self is an art in and of "itself." A journey that takes a lifetime of focus and dedication - but oh so worth the effort.

Thank You Grace...
for always touching me and my heart. Okay, I know I'm menopausal and overly sensitive right now because your words certainly made a grown woman cry. Your card is beautiful and your post! Happy Easter to you and your family!

Sending you a heartfelt hug...
Keep Pursuing Art...your life and dreams! Lisa ;)

Thanks for your thoughts and comments.

Freebird - I'm really looking forward to holding the cards in my hands too!

K - my plan is to get them in the mail this coming week.

Cathie - I'm gald you like the message and I couldn't agree more that finding peace is an art (and a challenge sometimes) within itself.

Lisa - you're so sweet and just so you know - I shed a tear (okay maybe more) as I worked on this little card and thought about some areas in my life where I still need to find that peace.

Leaves of Grass

This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body - Walt Whitman
