September BJP
I finished my September page - it is dedicated to P E A C E.
I wish... I hope for it each and every day. For my loved ones close by as well as those far away that I don't know personally.
In addition to the glass peace sign cab, there is a glass clock cab and a glass heart. If you are interested in seeing my progress photos and a little more detail on the cabs, you can find that here.

Leaves of Grass
This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body
- Walt Whitman

Wonderful page. Great dedication too - something we sure need more of. Your beading is really nice on this piece; I looked at the details in the closeup picture.
These rich colors are a feast for the eyes. Your intent is one that is close to my heart, too . . .

I love this one too...colors, concept, execution...all of it!
Oh Grace, you've made a puzzle here... at least for me... Time and peace definitely connected. I get that part. The heart set apart; present but not intimate with either peace or time. Do you feel any part of the heart? Is it perhaps yours?
A great dedication and a beautiful page, I love the colours and the changes in texture.

Very nice page !
Your piece somewhat makes me think of a lovely teddybear's face, Colargol/Barnaby which I used to watch as a child and who meant a lot for me.

Buddhists like Thich Nhat Hanh say that if you long for peace, you should work on yourself, because we are all full of fear, pain and anger, which are foods for war and hatred. We all know that, I think, however, in times of strain, we tend to forget it... Well, I do anyhow - so thanks for reminding me of this :o)

wow it a realy toughing page and its beautiful
Peace
So simple, but so complex at the same time.
Anwar al Sadat said to have peace in the world we needed to start with the conflicts in our own lives. So true, but so hard.
Peace onto you.
Beautiful beadwork!
Thanks so much for all the thoughtful comments. I know I struggle with inner conflict frequently - past and present. And I seem to become more and more sensitive with time.
Robin - I'm not sure if the heart being somewhat separate is me or if it represents that I feel powerless to do anything to help with the bigger picture of peace - or maybe I'm trying to protect myself, I'm just not sure and hadn't given it much though until I read your post - I do appreciate you mentioning it and forcing me to look a little deeper, I need that.
I often find that I have to turn off the news or take it in small doses since I find myself weeping over it. In the meantime I will do what I can in my life, to bring peace within.
I never or rarely start with a plan when I bead and I think much of my beading ends up looking like puzzles. I suppose I'm searching on several levels (have been for a long time) and have not yet managed to connect the dots in some areas of my life. I'm not ready to give up though.
Nothing wrong with puzzles, Grace! And, personally, I don't believe that it's necessary or possible to connect all the dots. To let your heart have a voice in this way, through the work of your hands, is a gift... especially to yourself... even if your mind can't fit the pieces together very well.
Grace,
Your September page is so lovely! You keep coming up with wonderful work. I love all the elements
Thanks
Beadily yours
