A quilt square collaboration

Back in June I posted photos of a little square I beaded which was to be included in a larger quilt square. I collaborated with 2 friends of mine on this one and a third was kind enough to add the charms.

This was made for a couple that are very dear to all of us, for their western themed room. The square is about 14 inches not including the dowel from which it hangs. My friend Bobbie in Oregon picked out the fabric and sent me a little square to bead. Once I was done with the beading, I sent it back to her to work her quilting magic. Sammie from Washington contributed the charms and it was then sent on to Anne in Minnesota to add the embroidery and the dowel, she also attached the charms.

I am so pleased with the results. This is our fourth quilt square collaboration, each one has been a joy to help create.

If you are interested, you can see the other quilt squares here. You will need to scroll down toward the bottom of the post for the photos.

Hi, Grace -- this is a stunning wall quilt! Love the colors, the horse print, and especially the beading.

So glad you got that Midnight pin -- thanks for the compliments on it. First time I have ever done these and learned a lot while doing them.

Thank you! The friends that worked on this are so talented in areas that I seriously lack (like sewing) and it's so nice to be a part of something like this, I do enjoy it.

Kathy V - would you please send me an email through my profile? I wanted to send you a note, but don't know how to contact you.

Lora - I'm so glad you have one of my pins now! Isn't it funny - in last years swap I recevied your green pin and it is the one that inspired the one you now have from me (I think you received the green one). Too cool.

Thanks Helene - always nice to see you post!

Leaves of Grass

This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body - Walt Whitman
