Me, Fay and good mail

So... I'm back from Florida, I wish I could say I was able to enjoy a bit of the area, but that was not to be on this trip. I worked long days and with Fay hovering the entire time I was there - it was not conducive to going out exploring with the little time I did have. Not to mention I didn't have a car at my disposal, maybe another time! There was one day the office was closed due to a hurricane warning which turned into a little breeze and just a bit of rain - nothing serious thankfully. I was staying/working in the Tampa/Clearwater area, other areas were not so lucky. I will say... I'm HAPPY to be home!

Don't you love those days when you receive really good mail? Me too!

While I was away I received a wonderful package from Mexico, but I'm getting ahead of myself - let me start from the beginning. About a month ago, I answered a "Heart it Forward" challenge from Cami on her blog - Art, Like Bread. You can read all about the details...here. I adore handmade cards and was lucky enough to be the first to answer her challenge.

How cute are these?

I was losing daylight when I snapped these photos...

Not only were the cards included, but there were some other really neat items. The hearts in the first photo were included as well as these wonderfully colored paper items seen below.

And the beautiful beads and chips you see below.

Stay tuned - in the near future I will post my Heart it Forward Challenge

Paying it Forward

Remember last year when there seemed to be a frenzy of activity on many blogs participating in "Pay it Forward"? Well one of the blogs I commented on was that of Acey. Last week I received a beautiful quilt square from her. My photo does not do it justice, I didn't capture the colors very well. Also, there is quite a bit of stitching on this piece and it's accented with beads. I will find a special place in my office to hang it up so I can see it throughout my day.

Thank you Acey... I LOVE it!

1 year and 151 posts later...

I just passed a milestone in the land of blogs (or maybe it's just in my mind). My first post to this blog was on May 12 of last year. Believe that?

I wanted to post a quick note to let you know that I'd like to a little something in honor of this milestone. I hope to have details up by the end of this weekend, as a thank you all that visit and especially to the wonderful folks that take the time to comment.

So stay tuned for a little fun...

Paying it forward

I try to pay it forward often, I have been fortunate to have so many good things come my way, it's only right to pay back.

In the not too distant past I signed up on Amy's blog to participate in the PIF that is circulating many of the artist's blogs I visit. If you get a chance check out her blog - lots of wonderful creations. The photo above is what I received in the mail yesterday. It is stunning, a real treat for the senses.

In addition to that she wrote me a very nice note on a really cool note card that is a photo of one of her other creations. Amy... thank you! It is truly a beautiful work of art and I'm thrilled to call it mine.

And that's not all! I also received a wonderful package from my good friend Jessica in Pennsylvania. Jessica - do you know, as I was opening the package and quietly thanking my lucky stars you are in my life - I actually had the nerve to think, "I hope it's chocolate". But there it is and there is was in all it's chocolate glory. It is SO good, thank you so much!

I had such a good mail day on Wednesday, to have another good one on Thursday was an incredible gift.

So here's the details for paying it forward:

I will send a handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don't know what that gift will be yet (although you can be fairly certain it will incorporate beads). You may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise.

The only thing
you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Leaves of Grass

This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body - Walt Whitman
