Bracelets

I recently finished up a couple of bracelets - both in a herringbone stitch, but different versions.

First up is a supple herringbone rope. The pattern is found in the June 2006 copy of Bead & Button. In the magazine one of the project samples is in gold and one in silver. I wanted to try one in multi colors for a friend, this is the result.


Next up is a herringbone spiral. I used a combination of instructions from Beautiful Bracelets by Jill Oxton and The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving by Carol Wilcox Wells. I started with a 12 bead ladder and used a combination of 11/0 Japanese seed beads and Delica's.


This is one of the easiest stitches for me to learn by book once I got past the ladder. I love the way it looks and feels and they bead up fairly quickly. Both of these are heading to Kentucky for a friend and one of her grand kids.

Christmas projects

I just finished a couple of bracelets this past weekend. One is for my daughter-in-law, the other for my granddaughter.

They are spiral herringbone - I used a combination of resources to create. The basic pattern is from "Beautiful Bracelets" by Jill Oxton and "The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving" by Carol Wilcox Wells. They are fairly simple once I get going, it's getting started that can give me fits. I started with a double bead ladder technique by Leslie Frazier as described in The Art & Elegance of Bead Weaving. I used size 11/0 seeds and delicas on each.

Doesn't this deep purple look good enough to eat???

The pink is a little smaller and for my granddaughter, funny she did not like pink at all when she was little - now, she LOVES it. So that was her request.

Finally.... one for me. Fourth in the series of beaded key fobs, this one is my favorite. More crystals on this one - so more sparkle. Makes me smile every time I look at it!

Key fob - blue cream

Here's the third in the series of the beaded key fobs. The first 2 seemed to be a big hit with my co-workers. This one is for another co-worker - I'm hoping to get it shipped out to her next week.

The lampwork bead is another by Rufusandroxy. I find these colors are soft and soothing. I'm really enjoying the twisted herringbone. Not sure when I'll be able to stop - but that's a good thing. I plan to make a couple of bracelets for Christmas.

Beaded fobs

I work in a job by day that requires I use a key fob in order to access a secure computer network. I also travel quite a bit with my job - taking my key fob with me in my travels.

The key fob itself is about 2 1/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches with a hole in one end to attach a key chain or whatever. I have had a fairly plain D ring with a lampwork bead attached to mine for a while now.

I am traveling to the Denver and Colorado Springs areas soon and will meet two of my co-workers for the first time (we all work remotely). I wanted to offer up a small token of appreciation to thank them for their help and hard work.

These are about 4 1/2 to 5 inches in length from end to end. The black and blue bead was made by rufusandroxy and the pink bead by Pam Bennett at My Cabin Creations/Wild Sage Lampwork. The beaded part is tubular Ndebele made from instructions found in The Art & Elegance of Beadweaving by Carol Wilcox Wells.

I plan to bead up several more, I want to try a few other stitches - we'll have to see how that goes!

More bracelets

I finished another couple of bracelets recently. I found the pattern/instructions for both in Beautiful Bracelets by Jill Oxton. I found her instructions pretty easy to follow. This is also the first time I used bead tips. It does make it easier to add the clasps and I think it gives them a more finished look.


First is a herringbone spiral in blue. It is made with size 11/0 silver lined matte transparent cadet blue Japanese seed beads and a more transparent blue bead with an ab finish - those beads are by Toho, they are similar in size to Delica's. The colors are perfect to wear with jeans.



Next is a purple bracelet made using even count peyote stitch. It is made with size 11/0 silver lined matte transparent light lavender rainbow Japanese seed beads and #59 Delica's. The size of beads are just different enough that there is a ripple effect in the way it lays.
