Checking in from Miami

Something for Halloween, a little late...

Cute or what? I have been working on this between trips and got the finishing touches completed on November 1. I managed to snap a few photos before I left on Wednesday. I wish you could see the brilliance of the vintage sequins in person. They are so pretty!

This one I call 'Spawn'. The form was made by Monica Magness, the skeleton cabs by Gris Tello. I found the ceramic crow bead at Anima Designs - I have been hanging on to it for quite awhile waiting for a project in which I could put it to use.

So... here I am in Miami - Coconut Grove to be exact. After work, I went for a walk today. I wanted to see 'Cocowalk' and I was not disappointed. As I heard from home about the weather (in the 20's with the windchill) I enjoyed abundant sunshine and warmth. I almost felt guilty... almost. I figure I need to soak it in now and enjoy every minute of it before I go home to the cold.

It was a great place to sit, have a margarita and people watch. A perfect way to end the day!

I hope you are having a good day as well.

Yes, enjoy the warmth. I don't even have it in Arizona right now! This is a great Halloween doll. I was thinking Bat Woman when I saw her.

Grace, your Spawn is spectacular! I love sequins - they add such sparkle. I've been to Coconut Grove- went to a local bar called The Taurus and shot blow darts at a target. It was neat. I stayed in a gorgeous hotel, which for the life of me I can't remember the name....what a surprise (not!)

I just love this - the wings are great! Do you 'sequin' in rows from the top down? I was thinking to sequin this cool ghost i recently obtained...LOVE THE FACE!!!!

Thanks all... glad you like my little spawn. I'm not a huge fan of scary skeleton's but something about this one just sorta charmed me.

Double Infinity - to answer your question, with sequins it varies from project to project, with this one I added them along the outer edge then added them toward the middle, not really following any lines, but sometimes it does look that way. I usually bead starting from the inside and work my way to the edges. I hope that makes sense. I can see it in my mind - but sometimes it's a little confusing in there :-)
