BJP final and Out of town

I finally managed to snap a photo of all my BJP pages together. What I didn't manage to do was get the entire thing in focus. I tried so many different settings in all types of light, it just never came out quite like I would have liked.

Each page is approximately 4 inches by 6 inches. Most ended up stuffed with just a tad of fiberfil and all are backed with ultrasuede. To finish them off as a group, I want to add a little beaded loop so I can hang them all together.

On another note - I will be out of town, working in Florida August 17-22. I hope you have a great week!

Grace, YOU DID IT! You created quite a lovely spread here of pages... so much to take in, I feel like I'm seeing these for the FIRST time!

Take care on your journey. Looking forward to watching you whip out the next BJP batch (I'm out, didn't even get to finish my 2007 stack, tho I vow to do it before I die! that good enuff?). heh

Happy travels, Monica :)

Oh boy... I'm BACK!

Pat, be glad I didn't! We had hurricane Fay threatening our trip the entire week. It never came to anything in the area where I stayed/worked thankfully, but boy was it ever hot and humid!

I hope everyone had a great week!

can you explain HOW you backed them with ultrasuede? Was is after the beading was done? How much seam allowence did you leave? I am joining the BJP for the new year and was thinking of making 4X4 squares and putting a coaster between the beading and ultrasuade - as soon as i can figure out how to join the two together! i don't want to start and find out my beading square was too small!

Double Infinity... I was going to write to you personally, but couldn't find an email address for you. So I hope you'll be back to read my response which is...

I did attach the ultrasuede after the beading was complete. I started with a piece of heavy duty white pellon and covered it with a material of my choice. I basted the material to the pellon - I did post several examples of how it looked - if you scroll down the right side of my blog until you see the Bead Journal Project button from 2007 and right underneath that is a link to see all the posts related to my BJP pages, click that and keep scrolling until you see the backs on a few of them.

By basting the material to the pellon I didn't have to worry about frayed edges. So when I added the ultrasuede I used a beaded edge stitch - found in Jamie Cloud Eakins book "Beading with Cabochons", that particular stitch is nice because you end up with the beads sitting nicely along the edge with the hole facing out. Then you can add a picot stitch or whatever you like. I used the pointed edge stitch on most of my pages. I also added a little bit of fiberfil to give the pages a tad bit of depth.

I hope that helps some

Thanks Grace. That's how i thought you did it. I think i'm going to be okay since i left a 1/4 inch seam allowence. I'll go ahead and baste it so i have a good visual though. I used stiff stuff as a backing since that is how i learned to do a cuff and i really liked the play it gave. BTW: I'm so looking forward to joining the BJP this year. Last September my mom - she was a peyote bracelet beader - died suddenly and left me all her supplies. I've done a few cuffs and dolls and find the art form very gratifying. I've been admiring your work for awhile now. Thanks for the info. Lytlemom@sbcglobal.net
