I am sad that he died when you were so young ; but happy you have precious items to remember him by.

None of us will ever know what our veterans went through ; how they struggled for survival ; and what they saw. To lose close friends and not know what happened to them must have been devastating for your father.

He was obviously a meticulous and detailed man with the lists he kept. And I smiled at his item ' try every cheese on the market' on his list. Hope he got to taste LOTS of cheese.

And a lovely tribute to your partner at the end too.

Much love

Dot xxDothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17408844662031621627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084316.post-20624273697085319212008-11-11T13:41:00.000-05:002008-11-11T13:41:00.000-05:00A beautiful from the heart tribute...God bless you...A beautiful from the heart tribute...God bless you.:)Margaret Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04222261903697956295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29084316.post-38468064998792494392008-11-11T12:31:00.000-05:002008-11-11T12:31:00.000-05:00What a beautiful tribute to your father, Grace, an...What a beautiful tribute to your father, Grace, and all Veterans. Never thought to do that before.

I think food in general sounded good to everyone in those days even in the U.S. as it was all rationed. Caught up in everything that is my life, I know today I would have only stopped to listen or "think" about Veterans Day and what it means if I read the paper or turned on the TV. Reading your personal story and the story about your father made me STOP what I was doing and really think about what this day is all about and has slowed me down a bit and made me take care of some things (people) that I was neglecting by doing my "work".
Thank you for your story..
Thanks for sharing it on your Blog.
Thanks for changing the course of my day..
LisaLisa Peters Russhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16981061259106021523noreply@blogger.com
